Thank you for the addition. I love it.

But hey, I bet you got a nice conversation out of that one. Fun stuff. I don't speak Spanish, but I took two years of it in college. I love when friends write messages in other languages, though, because I get to try to decode them.

But that's just me.

Way to go pulling that off... writing on everyone's wall. I'd love to hear more similar stories.

I'm with you on the "sucking your life away" comment (see my other comment above this one). I know it can be difficult, and I've had quite a few conversations about the appropriate amount of use and deactivating.

About gift wrapping, cheers! I had a record buying experience this year. I started buying gifts and finished all in one day... because I only had two shopping days left. I'm a firm believer in the productive power of deadlines. :>)

Thank you for checking out my other blog. I've kept all the interaction for that one on Twitter and Facebook - so far. Just this week, I've had a couple more comments about it, though... more than usual, so maybe I'll open them soon. We'll see.

I had planned to post here on Christmas too - a song. In the end, though, I didn't feel it was totally amazing and decided I'd rather stay silent than just add to the Christmas noise. So, "Silent Day."

Thank you again for reading and commenting,

Yes, I know I often take it for granted. I end up wasting a lot of time on it instead of using it to really get to know people and interact. I'm trying to get better with that.

As for the "merry" part, I once sent a college professor a "Marry Christmas" in an email. I noticed it only after I'd sent it and mentioned something about it. Turns out, since she's Tai, she didn't even celebrate Christmas. Classic, Marshall, classic. :>)

Wow I did this before I read your article and I just have one thing to add: writing in the correct language spells caring too. Don't tell your college best friend "Feliz Navidad y Dios te bendiga completamente", when she doesn't speak a word of English, and when you meant to write that on your Tio Frank's wall.

Hey!

Wow, that's quite a feat! Unfortunately, I saved all my gift-wrapping for the last-minute so I was up, surrounded by paper and tape until almost 3 AM -- no time to be nice to several hundred people (plus, I deactivated Facebook for now 'cause it was sucking my life away). But that's a really neat idea -- I'll have to try it some day.

(As far as my gift wrapping: like Charlie Brown says, "I work best under pressure!" Ahem.)

Anyway. Merry Christmas! I was going to comment on your other blog, but the comment feature wasn't working for some reason. So, just a shout-out to say, a true blogger updates on Christmas - hooray!

In reference to #6 I once wrote "Aunt Merry" on my Aunt Mary's Christmas gift. Totally by accident but I "blame" the Christmas spirit. I didn't know what I had done until she opened the gift, she thought it was funny, and better yet that I did it on purpose. So it all worked out.

I find Facebook very odd when it comes to interacting with people. People forget many of the things you pointed out. It started to feel like a chore to me rather than a perk of technology. I'm glad it's working for somebody in a positive way.
