Shane from Caffeinated Thoughts tagged me for a meme a few days ago. I should first say thank you, Shane. I appreciate it.
I struggled with this though. I don’t want the archives to get clouded with memes. I’ve seen that happen. While they’re great for link building and connecting with other bloggers, memes can often lead to egomania. How valuable is it really for others to know these random facts about me?
Until now, I’ve moved all memes and such to facebook. I considered posting this one to Micro-bondC. That way it would still show up here. I decided against that though for various reasons.
Instead I’m going to post this here like a normal blogger should. But I’d like to extend this to everyone. I don’t want this post to be all about Marshall Jones Jr. – I’d like the rest of you to jump in also. I’ll explain at the bottom.
Let’s get on with it.
First, the rules:
1. Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
And away we go…
Seven Random/Weird Facts about Marshall Jones, Jr.

1) Back in the day, I grew dreadlocks before I shaved my head (Yes, that’s me in the picture). My hair had grown uninterrupted by scissors for about 22 months. The dreads didn’t grow prettily. In fact, they looked hideous. But hey, now I can say I did it in these random fact memes. In case you were wondering, razor burn, though it looks it, is NOT funny .
2) I read the Bible from cover to cover in about three weeks in 2007. I tried NaNoWriMo that November and finished. After that, I was pumped to attempt other amazing feats. Reading the Bible in December seemed like a holy way to pay God back for the time I’d used writing the novel. The pay back didn’t work, but the reading did.
3) I’ve played drums at my church since 2003. It’s a small church so it’s not as if I’m popular or anything. The first two years or so, I played at least three times per week in front of people. I also played at a couple pastor’s conferences, which was a blast. If you want to improve quickly, that’s the way to do it – get out there and do it often. I’ve slacked off since then. Now my tempos grow exponentially instead of my talent.
4) I hated carrot juice until I forced myself to learn to like it. I wanted to test the notion that taste is conditioned. I eat almost anything so picky eaters bothered me. I wanted to prove one could learn to like anything. I’m not sure I proved anything (I’m still not much for Dinuguan), but carrot juice is honestly my favorite juice now.
5) I own 16 jackets – way more than any guy in the world should own. Most of them were given to me or purchases inexpensively at thrift stores. I am unbelievably blessed. Still, I’m 15 jackets over the amount Jesus recommended. Hopefully writing this will motivate me to give them away.
6) I graduated from high school when I was 16 (home schoolers have all the fun). My mother thought I would graduate by the time I was 12, but I slowed the pace the last few years because I’m a bum. My projects tend to drive forward like Jehu but lose motivation toward the end. I’m working on reversing that.
7) I write about serving others here at bondChristian, but I’m a horrible example of it. The tips posted here are as useful (if not more useful) for me to learn as they are for anyone else. If you have any helpful ideas, please let me know. You can post them in the comments of any article. Even if it’s just a link to your insightful article, I’d love it. Let me know if I can help you with anything. That’s why I’m here.
Looking back over these, all my facts are weird – random also – but mostly weird. That’s me. Now you can decide if you want to keep reading bondChristian or flee in the opposite direction. If you chose the latter, remember to yell, “Run away, run away!” as you go.
I hope this is valuable in some way. At least you know a little more about who I am, and I’m able to spread the links with seven others (eight if you include Shane). I’m looking forward to reading about the rest of you. Thank you again, Shane, for the tag.
I’m tagging Jacob (Guitar Theory Man), Jil (Personal blog), Stephen (The Blazing Center), Mike (Learn This), Chris (The Bible Post), Johnathon (The Fool’s Gold), and Sara (On Simplicity).
Update: Tagging Jeff (Wandering in the Wilderness) and Justin (Christian in College).
Serving Suggestions:
(1) If I tagged you, you know what to do. Follow the rules up top (or bend them slightly).
(2) If I didn’t tag you and you have a blog, feel free to act as though I did tag you. If you follow the rules (at least a little), I’ll add a link to your blog under the links to the blogs I tagged.
(3) If you don’t have a blog (or don’t feel like doing a meme on your blog), consider answering in the comments. If you’ve never commented here, now is a great opportunity for you to start.
The more the merrier!
