I think it can. I think someone can learn from us, pass it on to someone else, and then forget what we've taught them. Yes, I think that's entirely possible.

My idea of the "third generation" has more to do with the indirect consequences of what we do. We can only teach so many people. It's what our students teach that reveals what we've taught.

I don't necessarily mean actually generations, though, as in grandparent, parent, and child. I hope that helps.

My mom was given a magnet a few years ago that said something like, "Children are a gift to the future we will not see."

This really isn't faith related but one of the reason I had surgery in September was for the benefit of those who come after me. I'm not the first one to have this certain surgery (this time) but I am the oldest (yep old in my 20s). So there are ideas of what the end result could be but no one really knows.

Sometimes I tend to think in terms of I might be the first one but I won't be the only one so why not take the chance, it'll maybe make it easier on someone else.

great article,
But I have a Question , is it possible to leave something for the third generation without leaving it first of all to the second?
Those this leaving have also something to play with our Christian Character that we show to the next generation, or live and they hear about it if we don´t live long to see them?
Thanks
