Exactly, Amanda. That's a big decision, and I know from experience, though not with grad school, that it can be nerve racking. I'll keep you in prayer.

Wow this is great. I've been thinking of this topic on and off all year, which grad school does God want me at? Then I heard a Greg Laurie sermon where he states that I will share God where ever I am, so, I ought to go to which ever place fits my God-given personality best.

Jeff,

Yes, that's it exactly: "While it’s tremendously liberating to know that God trusts me with these decisions, it’s also comforting to know that I am not alone in this life."

The overwhelm comes when we feel pressured by the decisions of life. But when we're able to step back and say, "Hey, God has this all under control no matter what I do." That's when we can really become courageous followers. We can take responsibility for following God, but we can leave the responsibility of the overall outcome to God. Amazing.

Thank you for commenting,

Excellent. I've always said that circumstance is not our god (or shouldn't be any way). You laid out some good options for discerning the will of God in major life decisions. I like that you included prayer in #2 -- it seems that God can reveal to us through the Spirit what we can not otherwise know (i.e. that homeless person's real situation, or the back story to the kids in India). While it's tremendously liberating to know that God trusts me with these decisions, it's also comforting to know that I am not alone in this life. I don't have to figure it all out.
